Tamara Rojo started at the Madrilenian school of Victor Ullate and completed her formation with David Howard and Renatto Paronni.

At 20 she won the Gold Medal and Critics' Award by unanimous vote of the prestigious Paris concourse of 1994, with a jury which included Makarova, Vassilief and Samsova. From the beginning of her professional career Tamara Rojo has undertaken diverse roles that require great interpretive maturity.

With the Ballet de la Comunidad de Madrid her repertoire mixes the classical technique with her profoundly Spanish roots. She excelled in roles such as Arraigo, Arrayan and the roles created for her by Victor Ullate, Volando hacia la luz and Concierto para Tres. In 1995, invited by Galina Sansova of the Scottish Ballet she danced Swan Lake (Odete/Odile), and in 1996 The Nutcracker (Sugar Plum Faire) and in the spring of 1997 La Sylphide, and Cranko's Romeo and Juliet. The Ballet of the Opera of Nice invited her as Guest Artist during the summer of 1996. She appeared in Nice, Genova and Granada's Festival where she danced The Three Corner Hat and Blue Danube. In April 1996, she danced Nascita de Orfeo of Veggetti/Pizzi, created for her by Ente Lirico (Arena de Verona, Ballet/Opera in one act, music by Lorenzo Ferrero). With English National Ballet, during the Christmas Season of 1997, the London Public saw her in the newly created role of Clara in Derek Deane's production of The Nutcracker. As Principal Dancer of the E. N. B. Tamara's roles include Aurora, The Sleeping Beauty, Glen Tetley's The Sphinx and Voluntaires, Michael Corder's Cinderella, Odette/Odile Swan Lake, Paquita, Coppélia, Etudes, The Sugar Plum Fairy in Derek Deane's The Nutcracker. She created the role of Juliet in Deane's production of Romeo and Juliet and Clara in Deane's production of Nutcracker and Christopher Hampson's Perpetuum mobil and Preludes. She also danced the role of the Chosen Maiden in Kenneth MacMillan's Rite of Spring. She achieved a great success of, both, critic and public during E. N. B. 's tour to Hong Kong and Australia as well as at the Royal Albert Hall for her interpretation of Odette/Odile in Deane's production for the round.

In July 2000 Tamara danced Giselle with the Royal Ballet at the Covent Garden. Since joining The Royal Ballet she has performed, at the Covent Garden, Odette/ Odile Swan Lake, Tudor's Shadowplay, K. Macmillan's Juliet, Son of the Earth, Mayerling and Manon, Cranko's Onegin, Nureyev's Don Quixote, Makarova's Bayadere and Sleeping Beauty, Ek's Carmen, Giselle, Sugar Plum Fairy (The Nutcracker), Ashton's Ondine and Cinderella, etc., etc.

As Guest Star she has danced with the Ballet Teatro alla Scala, Ballet of the Opera of Nice, Ente Publico Arena de Verona, Scottish Ballet, Ballet National de Cuba and Ballet Deutsch Oper Berlin and has participated in numerous international Galas. She has recently been awarded the Spanish Royal Gold Medal of Fine Arts.
