Nora Estevesbegan her ballet studies at the age of eightat the Ballet School of the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiroand with Tatiana Leskova. At the age of 14 shewas accepted into the Ballet Company of the Municipal Theater, and in three years she was made a Principal of the company by William Dollar. Later she joined the Joffrey Ballet where sheworked with Bob Joffrey, Gerald Arpino and Jerome Robbins.

Invited by George Skibine, Esteveswent to Paristo dance the principal role of Sheherazade in his version of the ballet. Sheremained in France for five years, dancing as a Principal with the Ballet Theatre Contemporain, Ballet Theatre Français and the Rolland Petit Company.

She returned to the Municipal Theater in Rio de Janeiro where she continuedher career,working with such luminaries as Natalia Makarova, Oscar Arraiz, Arthur Mitchell, and George Skibine. She stopped dancing in 2009 and has since been a teacher at the company.
