HAI YING XIA
Trained at Beijing Dance Institute, China. In 1992 won First Prize in the Tao Li Cup Competition (Junior-sector), China.
Joined Singapore Dance Theatre (STD) as an apprentice in 1993. Portrayed the title role in the STD's full-length productions of Andrei Prokovsky's Anna Karenina, Choo San Goh's Romeo and Juliet and Jean-Paul Comelin's Giselle.
Other roles include Fairy Godmother in Graham Lustig's Cinderella and Queen of Willis in Giselle, Prayer in Coppellia and the lead role of Victoria in Petal Miller-Ashmole's The Red Shoes. Also performed leading roles in Choo San Goh's Momentum and Unknown Territory, Stanton Welch's Maninyas, Jean-Paul Comelin's Requiem and Les Nuits d'Ete, George Balanchine's Who Cares?, Richard Werlock's Stetl, Jiri Kylian's Stamping Ground in Kylian's Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen.
Winner of the Grand Prix at the 7th Asia Pacific International Ballet Competition, Tokyo, 1999.
As a guest artist performed with Queensland Ballet, July, 2000.
