In 1988, after his graduation, Mr. Klevtzov received the first place award in the Moscow Ballet competition as well as the gold medal. He also was admitted to the Bolshoi Ballet. That same year he participated in the International Ballet Competition in Varna (Bulgaria) and took second place as well as the silver medal.
As a soloist in the Bolshoi Theater, his first main role was Danila in “The Stone Flower“ by S. Prokofiev/Yuri Grigorovich. After that came Benedict (“Love for Love“), Romeo (“Romeo and Juliet“), the Prince (“Nutcracker“), Ferkhad (Legend of Love”), Spartacus(Spartacus”) by A. Khachaturian/Yuri Grigorovich), Solor (La Bayadere”), Abderakhman (Raymonda”), and Petruschka. Mr. Klevtzov is a talented representative of the Moscow Ballet School and exemplifies its best traditions, for instance academism, strong expression, dramatism and inspiration.
Yuri Klevtzov went on many foreign tours with the Bolshoi Ballet. For two years he worked as a guest star at the Theater Colon in Buenos Aires.
