Shen Jie was born in Zhejiang, China, and began his ballet training at Zhejiang Vocational Academy of Art, from which he went on to study at Guangzhou Dance School and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

In 2007, he joined the Hong Kong Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet. He was promoted to coryphée in 2012 and to soloist in 2013. He has performed leading roles in many of the company’s productions, including Fritz in The Nutcracker, the Blue Bird in The Sleeping Beauty, Young Uncle Tak in Firecracker, the male lead in Nacho Duato’s Castrati and the title role in The Frog Prince – A Ballet Chinois.
