Graduated from the Ballet School affiliated to Liaoning Ballet Dance Troupe in 2010 and entered the Liaoning Ballet at the same year.

Since entering LNB, he has danced the leading roles in both Chinese and Western classic and modern repertoire. World classic ballets include: Spartacus, Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake, Giselle, Le Corsaire, The Nutcracker, and others.

Among chinese original ballets are: Moonlight on the Pond, Eight Heroines, Mulan, Iron Man Wang, and others. Zhang Haidong has also performed in the neo classical version of Notre dame de Paris, as well as in modern ballets: Song without words, The line, The Elegy, etc.

He was awarded the Silver award of Junior Group in Japan Tokyo International Ballet Competition (2008), Special Award in the 7th Vienna International Ballet Competition and performance award of Culture and Art Awards in The 9th Arts Festival of Liaoning (both in 2014).

In 2016 he acted the principal role in the Chinese Original Ballet Eight Heroines and won the Wen Hua Award, which is the Chinese top governmental award in the sphere of art and culture.

In 2017 – The ballets Eight Heroines and Iron Man with his participation received the “Five Projects in Unity“ award for „building a spiritual civilization”.

As a messenger of foreign culture exchanges, he has performed in many other countries as delegate of the Liaoning Ballet. As a guest dancer, he has worked with many famous ballet companies. He performed The Nut Cracker with the Canada Ballet (2014); Swan Lake with Johannesburg Ballet of Republic of South Africa (2015); Giselle with Tianjing Ballet of China (2016); Giselle with Mariinsky Theatre (2017).

Model worker and exemplary individual of Liaoning Province, awarded the title of Most Beautiful Youth of Liaoning Province.
