Dancer Gustavo Carvalho began his ballet studies at the age of nine with ballet master Jorge Teixeira at the Marcia Sampaio Ballet Company.
In 2007 he moved to Rio de Janeiro to study at the Brazilian Dance Conservatory with ballet masters Jorge Teixeira, Thadeo de Carvalho and Henrique Talmah. That same year he entered international competitions such as Prix de Lausanne, and was awarded the Danzamerica Revelation Prize two years in a row.
At the age of 14 he joined the Companhia Brasileira de Ballet as Soloist. In 2010 he performed as Principal Dancer in the classical and contemporary repertoire. That same year he entered the Joinville Dance Festival and was awarded three Gold Medals, and also participated in the Third Beijing International Ballet Invitation, where he was awarded the Bronze Medal.
Between 2011 and 2013 he wasa guest dancer at various galas in many countries, including Brazil, Mexico, the United States, Argentina, Israel, Colombia, and China.
In 2014 he entered the USA International Ballet Competitionwhere he won the Gold Medal and Special Prize for the best dance couple. In August he danced with Ballet Nacional Sodre for the first time, interpreting Basilio in the Don Quixote production. During 2015 he performed as Soloist for the Ballet Nacional Sodre and was promoted to Principal Dancer.
