Chief Choreographer of National Ballet of China. Guest Choreographer of Finnish National Opera and Ballet.

Born into a traditional opera family, Fei Bo learned Chinese traditional dance from 1992. He started choreographing at the age of 16 and began studying modern dance choreography at Beijing Dance Academy in 1998. After his graduation, Fei Bo joined the National Ballet of China in 2002 and since then has created many pieces for the company. He has collaborated with world famous renowned choreographers such as Philippe Decouflé, Akram Khan, Tamara Rojo. He was awarded the prize for best choreography at international ballet competitions held in Helsinki, Shanghai, Beijing and in Seoul, as well as best modern dance prize at USA YAGP. In 2008, he created the Chinese ballet “The Peony Pavilion”, which was later performed at the Hong Kong Arts Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Lincoln Center Festival and many others. In 2017, he created an original ballet “The Light of Heart”. His modern ballet “Permanent Yesterday” won the Choreography Award in the 11th American International Ballet Competition in 2018.

Traveling and performing around the world, he tries to use eastern perspectives to converse with western art. He was invited by the Hong Kong Ballet to create the pieces “A Room of One’s Own” and “Shenren Chang”. In 2012 he was invited to the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow to stage his piece “On the Road”. In the same year, Fei Bo won the Rockefeller Asian Culture and Art Fund Award and had a study tour in the United States.
In 2014 received a Benois de la Danse diploma. In 2021 was invited by the Finnish National Opera and Ballet to create a new ballet “Earthborn”.

His choreography includes: A Room of One’s Own, Confucius 2012, Bolero (NBC Version), Hamlet, The First Ray of Light, Long March! Long March!, Bamboo, Hold the Gun, Sacrifice, On the Road, Once Upon a Time and Over There, Permanent Yesterday, Like Flowers, Against the Wind, Inspiration and Glory, etc.
