Timur Askerov was born in Baku, Azerbaijan, and graduated from the Baku School of Dance in 2008. The same year, he joined the Azerbaijan State Mirza Fatali Akhundov Theater of Opera and Ballet. From 2009 to 2011, he danced at the Shevchenko National Theater of Opera and Ballet of Ukraine and, in 2011, joined the ballet company of the Mariinsky Theater.

Askerov’s repertoire includes Giselle (Count Albrecht), The Sleeping Beauty (Prince Désiré), La Bayadère (Solor), Swan Lake (Siegfried), Don Quixote (Basilio), Le Corsaire (Conrad), and Chopiniana (the Youth), as well as Ballet Imperial (soloist), A Midsummer night’s Dream (Oberon) and Jewels (Diamonds), choreography by George Balanchine, The Nutcracker (Nutcracker Prince), Grand pas classique, choreography by Viktor Gzovsky, Carmen Suite (José), choreography by Alberto Alonso, The Legend of Love (Ferkhad), choreography by Yuri Grigorovich, and Without, choreography by Benjamin Millepied.

In 2013, Askerov was a first-prize winner at the 12th International Competition of Ballet Dancers and Choreographers in Moscow and received the Azerbaijan Presidential Youth Prize for Culture (gold medal and diploma).

He has toured with the Mariinsky Theater to Europe, Asia and America.
