Tamako was born in Hokkaido, Japan. She startid her studies of ballet in the Uchiyama Ballet Studio continuing her training later in the Academie De Danse Clas-sique Princes Grace in Monaco, with Marika Besobrasova as director. In 1986 she won the Second Prize in the Prix De Lausanne and two years later, the fourth Prize junior in Varna. In 1989, she joined the Stuttgarter Ballet with Marcia Haydee as director, dancing many works of choreographers like M. Petipa, G. Baianchine, J. Cranko, J. Neu-meier, M. Bejart, J. Kylian, N. Duato, W. Forsythe.

In 1996, Richard Cragun invited her to join the Deutsche Oper Ballet in Berlin as a solist and a year later she was promoted to principal danseur, dancing many works of choreographers like Kylian, Cranko, Neumeier, Nacho Duato, McMillian, Tetley, Forsythe, Van Manen, Spoerli, Marius Petipa, Baianchine. In September 1999 she joined the Compania Nacional de Danza in Madrid, under the direction of Nacho Duato and for the last six years, she has been dancing as a principal dancer.
