Born in Casablanca, Morocco. Edouard Lock creates, at the age 21, his first choreographic pieces for the group Nouvelle Air. In 1980, Edouard Lock founds and becomes the artistic director of the dance company La La La Human Steps. Soon after his first piece, Lily Marlene dans la jungle in 1980, he starts to perform abroad. He is the first Canadian artist to perform at The Kitchen in New-York City one of New York's avant-garde theatrical Meccas in the 1980's. In 1981, he receives the prestigious prize J. A. Chalmers prize for the choreography of Oranges, the second creation of the company. In 1983, follows Businessman in the process of becoming an Angel. With Human Sex, created in 1985, the company starts a 2 years world tour, a pattern that will be followed for all the pieces to come. Using raw language and energy and unbelievable speed to execute movements, the artist signed an unequivocally urban work that both entranced and shocked audiences and critics worldwide. This memorable work in Canadian dance history catapulted Edouard Lock onto the international stage and earned him Bessie Award in 1986.

At the same time, Lock creates Bread dances, his first pieces on points, for the Het National Ballet of Holland. New Demons, premiered at the opening of the second Festival international de nouvelle danse de Montreal. The magazine U. S News and World Report refers Lock as one of the 10 artists to influence American culture. In 1991 —1995 Lock created two versions of Infante c'est destroy. In 1996-Etude, created for Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. In 1999, Edouard Lock creates Touch to include for the Netherlands Dance Theatre.ln May 2001 Edouard Lock receives for the second time in his career, the National prize J. A. Chalmers in the field of dance. In June of 2001, Edouard Lock was named Chevalier de I'Ordre national du Quebec and, in November of the same year, he earned the National Arts Centre Award for exceptional achievement over the past performance season. In February 2002, he was named Officer of the Order of Canada, which “recognizes a lifetime of achievement”.

The ministere de la Culture et des Communications du Quebec awards him of the prize Denise Pelletier, the highest distinction given to a Quebecois artist in the field of performing arts.

In October 2002, Edouard Lock and La La La Human Steps presented at the State Opera in Prague the world premiere of Amelia. In November 2002, the Ballet of the Opera de Paris invites Edouard Lock to create a new piece called AndreAuria. With Amelia La La La Human Steps will tour in most than sixty cities in America, Europe and Asia, until December 2004.
