Angel Corella was born in Madrid in 1975. He began his ballet education In Spain, where Viktor Ullate and Karemia Moreno were his teachers. In May 1991 Corella won the first place in the Spanish National Ballet competition.

In December 1994 he received the Grand Prix and the Gold Medal at the International Dance Competition in Paris. In April 1995, Mr. Corella joined the American Ballet Theater as a soloist and was promoted to а principal dancer a year later. His ABT repertoire includes leading roles

in “La Bayadere“, “Le Corsaire“, “Don Quixote“, “Coppelia”, „Merry Widow”,„La Sylphide” and „Romeo and Juliet”. In 1996, Mr. Corella danced in a ballet gala watched by Queen Elisabeth II and Princess Margaret. He also appeared on television in a Kennedy Center performance (1996) and in an
episode of “Sesame Street” (1998).
