Gergő Ármin Balázsi was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1996. After graduating from the Hungarian Dance Academy (today: Hungarian Dance University) in 2014 as Graduate of the Year he was immediately offered a position at the Hungarian National Ballet. He rose through the ranks in quick succession, earning him the Best New Dancer of the Season award and becoming first Principal, then Étoile of the company.

At 19 he performed his first principal role as Siegfried in Rudi van Dantzig’s Swan Lake. He has been distinguished with several awards thoughout the years: Junior Prima Award – Category of Theatre and Film (2019); Best Male Dancer of the Season (2019, 2023); Bronze Cross of Merit, Civil Devision (2021); Zoltán Nagy Jr. Award for the Best Performance (2022) for his portrayal of Rudolf in Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s Mayerling; and Étoile of the Hungarian National Ballet (2022/2023 season).

His most notable roles include: Nutcracker Prince (The Nutcracker, Eagling/Solymosi), Alexey (The Karamazovs, Eifman), Amyntas (Sylvia, Seregi),Crassus (Spartacu, Seregi), Onegin, Lensky (Onegin, Cranko), Vronsky (Anna Karenina, Pártay), Prince (Snow White and The 7 Dwarfs, Harangozó Jr.), Prince Florimund (The Sleeping Beauty, Petipa/Wright), Des Grieux (Manon, MacMillan), Stanley (A Streetcar named Desire, Venekei), Rudolf (Mayerling, MacMillan), Albert (Giselle, Lavrovsky), Waclaw (The Fountain of Bakhchisaray, Zacharov), Prince (The Wooden Prince, Velekei), Basil (Don Quixote, Petipa/Gorsky), Leon (The Pygmailon Effect, Boris Eifman).
