Jury member of Benois de la Danse

Ballerina; Artistic Counceler, Europa Danse.

French ballerina of Russian parentage, pupil of Julie Sedova (Cannes) and Lubov Egorova (Paris), H_l_ne Tra_line made her debut (1946) with Nouveau Ballet de Monte-Carlo — artistic director and choreographer: Serge Lifar. She danced leading roles in Dramma Per Musica, Suite en Blanc, Chota Roustaveli, and remained until 1948 by which time the company has become Grand Ballet de Monte-Carlo (later du Marquis de Cuevas). Ballerina, Ballets des Champs- Elys_es (1949-50); with Ballets Janine Charrat for several seasons (1952-59), dancing in Europe, the U. S, Central and South America. She has also danced special seasons and festival performances, creating leading roles in Maurice B_jart's Haut Voltage (1956) and Equilibre (1959). She was Demeter to Vera Zorina's Persephone in the Stravinsky work choreographed by Margaret Wallman for the Salzburg Festival (1955).

H_l_ne Tra_line has frequently danced in ballets by Aurel Milloss at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. She has been guest artist with Ballet Rambert (1956) and guest ballerina with Ballet Russe de Monte-Carlo in U. S (1960-62), dancing the classic repertoire with George Zoritch and Igor Youskevitch as partners.

After several years devoted to teaching (Acad_mie Volinine, Paris — Ecoles Nationales de Musique et de Danse, France), H_l_ne Tra_line was the founder, with Jean-Albert Cartier, of Ballet Th__tre Fran_ais de Nancy and artistic director from 1978 to 88.

She has been counselor for the Ballet at Paris Opera House (1989-94), and artistic counselor for the Ballet at Nice Opera House (1994-97). She has been a jury member for National and International Ballet Competitions such as Lausanne, Monte-Carlo, Jackson, Prague, etc.

And now, since 1999, she is associated, with J. A Cartier, in the organization of Europa Danse, as an artistic counselor. H_l_ne Tra_line has been made a Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (1987).
