Choreographer, Director of the Hungarian National Ballet, Hungary.

Studied at the Hungarian Dance Academy and the Vaganova Ballet Academy in Saint Petersburg, as well as in Monte Carlo. After graduating as a dancer, he trained to be a ballet teacher and choreographer in the early 2000s. As he was frequently sought to perform abroad, he mainly appeared at the Hungarian National Ballet as a guest. He has made guest appearances with the ballet companies of Miami, Chicago, Osaka Ballet, Munich and Berlin, as well as in Santiago de Chile. Solymosi has appeared as a principal at the Wiener Staatsoper, the Dutch National Ballet, the Semperoper Dresden and the ballet company of the New York Metropolitan Opera. He has also performed at the Bolshoi in Moscow.

In 2006, he dedicated his time to working in Hungary and took up the position of deputy director of the Hungarian Dance Academy. In 2011, he became the Director of the Hungarian National Ballet. The company completely renewed its repertoire to include, alongside its traditional Hungarian ballet productions, nearly every great classical piece, numerous major neoclassical ballets and some of the more important modern works. Solymosi regularly invites the finest international répétiteurs to work with the company’s artists and share their expertise.

In 2016, he established the Hungarian National Ballet Institute within the framework of the Hungarian State Opera. By early 2018 the institute was has already over one hundred students who appeared in various ballet productions including The Nutcracker, Le Corsaire and Swan Lake.
