The renowned dancer and Bolshoi Ballet star, Michail Lavrovsky, belongs to a family with a dancing tradition. He graduated from the Moscow School of Choreography where he received instruction from Nikolai Tarassov and Gleb Jevdokimov.

Lavrovsky joined the Bolshoi Ballet in 1961 where lie was soon named a soloist. His romantic Temperament was evident in ballets like “The Flame of Paris“, “Cinderella“ and in “Laurencia“. Lavrovsky had international success dancing tragic roles such as Ferhad in “The Legend of Love“, Spartacus, Romeo in “Romeo and Juliet“ and Ivan in „Ivan the Terrible”. As a classical dancer, he performed brilliantly Siegfried in „Swan Lake”, the Nutcracker Prince, Bluebird in „Sleeping Beauty”, Solor in „La Bayadere”, and Basil in „Don Quixote”.

He collaborated with Russian choreographers such as Leonid Lavrovsky, Kasvan Goleizovsky and Yuri Grigorovich. Lavrovsky received numerous awards for his accomplishments as a dancer.

After retiring from dancing in 1988, Lavrovsky resumed his teaching position at the Bolshoi Ballet. There he restructured the Institute of the Moscow School of Choreography and created choreographies for the Bolshoi Ballet. In 1995 Michail Lavrovsky was a jury member of the International Competition of Young Dancers, the Prix de Lausanne.
