In 1971 he became a leading soloist, and in a year he was awarded with the title of the Star of the Grand Opera (Etoile.) He worked under the leadership of such masters as Merce Cunningham, George Balanchine, and Jerome Robbins. He was Rudolf Nuriev▓s partner in “Pavanne du Maure“ by Jose Limon. G. Tetley, J. Butler, B. MacDonald, E. Blaska, G. Grigorovich, R. Nuriev, K. Armitage, L. Childa, D. Dunn, D. Bagouet and A. Degroat gave him the leading roles in the premiere performances of their ballets.
Jean considers the leading roles in the ballet Ivan the Terrible” by Grigorovich (1976), “Aureole“ by Taylor and Manfred” by Nuriev (1979) and “The Phantom of the Opera” by Roland Petit (1980) to be his biggest achievements. He danced with R. Nuriev in the Bejart▓s ballet for the two “Les Chant du Compagnon Errant” on the stages of London, Berlin, Madrid, Vienna, Milan and Los-Angeles. Jean Guizerix often danced with his wife Wilfride Piollet, a famous French ballerina, in France and abroad. Some time later they started to make choreographic performances, and in 1980 they created their own company. Its repertoire included works by Robbins, Balanchine, Kylian, Limon, Rainer and Lancelot.
Robbins twice invited Jean Guizerix to New York (1991, 1995) to dance in his ballet “Watermill”. In 1994, at the Festival of Dance in Axe Jean Guizerix danced in the performance “Les sept dernieres paroles du Christ“ by Hydne. He works as a choreographer at the Grand Opera where he did ballet scenes in several opera performances. Inspired by the early repertoire of the XIX-th century he did Cahiers” after works by Father Saint-Leon. He is the laureate of French Grand Prix de la Danse (1984) and the chevalier of the Order for Merits (1989.)
