The gala concert on the 22nd of May dedicated to the Year of Theatre and the ballet dancers joined by artists of the Vakhtangov Theatre who performed scenes from “Othello“, “Queen of Spades“ and “Anna Karenina“, choreographed by Angelika Cholina. Another one of her works Duet of Nastassia Philippovna and Rogogin”, danced by Benois laureate and Prima-Ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre Olga Smirnova with Denis Savin.
Benois-Massine laureate Maria Kochetkova performed the rather contemporary Degunino” and Daniel Camargo responsibled the Firebreather” miniature. The audience also treated to a rather striking combination of two intertwining Orpheus-Eurydice duets, both choreographed by John Neumeier but during different periods of time, featuring Silvia Azzoni, Alexander Riabko and lead dancers of the Joffrey Ballet Victoria Jaiani and Temur Suluashvili. Constanine Allen choreograped a duet to the music of Rachmaninoff starring himself and Maia Makhateli. Christian Spuck also created a special piece for the occasion, which embodied to life by principal dancers of Ballett Zurich Elena Vostrotina and Cohen Aitchison-Dugas. And Elisa Carrillo Cabrera and Mikhail Kaniskin performув Uwe Scholz's charming miniature “Creation”.
