Dmitry Zagrebin was born in Moscow, Russia, into a ballet family. His parents are former Bolshoi ballet dancers. Dmitry began his professional training at the age of 10, attending the Bolshoi ballet academy. After his graduation Zagrebin joined the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow.

Dmitry as also been the recipient of numerous prizes and awards, including the Varna international ballet competition, Moscow international ballet competition (Gold medal 2009), Seoul international ballet competition (Gold medal 2010), Riga international Baltic ballet competition (Gold medal 2014).

Besides, Dmitry worked at Stanislavsky theatre in Moscow, and Queensland ballet Brisbane Australia. In 2015 he became a first soloist at the Swedish Royal Ballet where he made his debut in a principal role as Basilio in Rudolf Nureyev's version of Don Quixote. The next season, he made his debut as the main role in Par Isberg's version of Nutcracker.
