Alexander Koelpin, Danish dancer and choreographer, was born in 1965. He studied ballet at the School of the Royal Danish Ballet and in summer courses of the School of American Ballet.

At 1984 he started dancing at the Royal Danish Ballet where he soon became a principal dancer. At the end of 1980 Koelpin also appeared as principal dancer at Bejart Ballet (Lausanne) as well as in American companies — O'Day Dances and the troupe of Twyla Tharp.

From 1988 till 1999 Alexander Koelpin toured many countries of the world as a guest soloist.

In 1991 he became the founder and until 1995 remained Artistic Director of the Stars and the Soloists of the Royal Danish Ballet.

In 1996 Koelpin created the Copenhagen International Ballet and became its Artistic Director. He choreographed a number of ballets for the company: Play with Fire, Exit-2000, La Sylphide.

He also staged corporate events and public ceremonies at the request of various transportation and industrial companies.

In 1992 Alexander Koelpin has became the first laureate of the Benois de laDanse Prize together with Nadejda Gracheva, John Neumeier and Julio Bocca.

He has many times toured in Russia.
