Jury member of Benois de la Danse

Born in 1937 in Leningrad, descen╛dant of the family of artists. Pictures by his father and mother are the part of collection of the State Russian museum in St. Petersburg, in art galleries and private collections in Russia, Europe, America and Japan. Grand-nephew of the great Russian choreographer Alexander Gorsky.

After graduation from the Academy of Russian Ballet named after A. Vaganova — principal dancer of the Mariinsky (Kirov) ballet theatre. Became famous as a lyric-romantic dancer. Golden medal at the inter╛national ballet competition in Varna, Bulgaria (1964); V. Nizhinsky prize, awarded by the Parisian academy of Dance (1965). Peoples artist of the USSR (1976). Main roles: Siegfried (The Swan Lake), Desire, Blue Bird (Sleeping Beauty), Solor (La Bayadere), Jean de Brienne (Raimonda), ASbrecht (Giselle), Romeo (Romeo and Juliet), Vatslav (The Fountain of Bakh-chisaray), Poet (Les Sylphides), Prince (Cinderella). Graduate of the Choreography department of the St. Petersburg State Conservatory named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov, later — professor of the department.

Librettist and choreographer of new versions of ballets: Romeo and Juliet and Classical Symphony by S. Prokofiev, Romeo and Juliet and Manfred by P. Tchaikovsky, Isle of the Dead by S. Rachmaninov, Symphony 10 by D. Shostakovich, many concert items for theatre and TV. Choreographer of the new versions of The Swan Lake and La Fille mal Gardee ballets. Constantly cooperates with the ballet company Ballet Manila (Philippines). Gives master-classes in Europe, the USA, Korea and Japan. Choreographer, ballet-master of the Mariinsky theatre.
